HP LIBRARY AUTHOR FEST
Saturday, March 15, 2025
The Ides of March brought great joy and inspiration to the Highland Park Public Library. East on Central presented 16 local authors honoring their books for sale to patrons, and selected readings. A new feature included poets creating customized Insta-poems while readers shopped the book tables. On behalf of
Beth Keller and the library, a raffle encouraged visitors to meet with each author to be eligible for a gift certificate to Secret World Books. Mike Pickard read from his new book and authors enjoyed engaging in conversation with like-minded writers.
Thank you to all who attended and supported our local authors!

Wisdom, Visual Storytelling and AI
Thursday, January 9th, 2025
In spite of the cold, warmth exuded at Trinity Church on January 9. Filmmaker and educator Aaron Feldman engaged participants in an inspiring and creative presentation about Wisdom, Visual Storytelling, and AI. Aaron covered the art of storytelling from early origins to the present, and featured iconic clips to explain the use of scene and description to tell a story. He explained subtle uses of visuals and how directors artfully pack messages to the audience. Screenplays were studied to demonstrate the examples. For the AI portion, participants had the opportunity to write a scene without dialogue, and Aaron designed the prompt from paper to screen to see the visual example. Thought-provoking conversation contributed to the enchanting evening, and enhanced developing an eye for future film experiences!

Kate Hutchinson and Julie Isaacson felt on fire at The Art Center gala, representing East on Central. This fine and fun event represents the blessings in Highland Park. The joy in creativity of art, dance, music and overall talent was impressive and unforgettable. We had the opportunity to receive praise for our contributions from Terri Olian Director of the Highland Park Community Foundation, Clay Stamper from Wayfarer Theater, and Steve Sarowitz, receiving an award for his contribution to the Arts. James Lynch, Director of The Art Center has always been supportive of our work. Being elevated and appreciated within the community is a tremendous source of pride for our group. Our Journal and programs have an impact and our next publication will be another bright flame!
